Ever wondered why GPs love their work? How to become one? What experience they need?
Last month, GPSN ran its popular annual First Steps event at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, with more than 50 medical students in attendance to hear about the GP career pathway and learn valuable clinical skills.
Designed for first and second year students, this year’s event featured several guest speakers, including:
- Dr Raphael Chae (switching your career to general practice)
- Dr Dong Hua (ins and outs of setting up and running your own practice)
- Dr Kanav Malhotra (sub-specialising as a GP)
- Dr Angus Brown (a career as a Rural Generalist).
GPSN also set up activity stations for the students to learn and practise clinical skillsets from Fellowed GPs, including suturing, otoscopy, opthalmoscopy, and women’s health.
A huge thank you to all attendees, speakers and sponsors (including main sponsor RACGP) for another wonderful GPSN event promoting general practice as a career option for local medical students.
