GPSN UWA – “Wait. GPs can do that?” talk
The UWA GPSN chapter hosted an inspiring evening titled “Wait, GPs Can Do That?”, highlighting the incredible breadth and versatility of general practice.
Four engaging speakers – Dr Cherelle Fitzclarence, Dr Nicholas Mattock, Dr Anna Chaney, and Dr Henry Law, shared their unique journeys spanning rural, military, women’s health, homeless health, corrective medicine, and skin cancer care. Their stories showcased how GPs lead diverse, meaningful, and dynamic careers that extend far beyond routine consultations.
Over 60 medical students attended, enjoying dinner and a lively Q&A session that sparked thoughtful discussion about the flexibility, leadership, and innovation within general practice.
The evening, proudly supported by ACRRM, left students with a renewed appreciation for the diversity and impact of a career in general practice.
GPSN Monash – GP Careers Evening
Monash GPSN hosted an engaging GP Careers Evening that brought together more than 50 students keen to explore the breadth of general practice. GPs including Dr Umair (business in GP) and Dr Lee (refugee health) shared their unique journeys, highlighting the versatility and fulfilment of a GP career.
The evening featured interactive Q&A via Slido, lively discussion, and networking supported by RACGP, MDA National, and MonREN. Students praised the range of perspectives, noting how the event deepened their understanding of GP career pathways.

GPSN Curtin – GP Clinical Skills Night
GPSN Curtin hosted an engaging FAST Ultrasound and GP Emergencies Workshop, proudly supported by St John WA and the RACGP.
The evening provided Curtin medical students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in FAST Scan Ultrasound, learning how to detect internal bleeding and injuries in emergency settings. Students also explored how to identify and manage emergency presentations in general practice, deepening their understanding of acute care in community settings.
Interactive simulations allowed students to apply their learning in realistic scenarios – with plenty of teamwork, laughter, and creative ‘patients’ along the way! To top it all off, attendees enjoyed a free dinner while networking with peers and facilitators.

GPSN Griffith– Careers Night
Griffith University’s GPSN chapter hosted a lively GP Careers Night, giving first-year medical students an engaging introduction to life as a GP and the training pathway. Two current GP registrars shared personal insights into their journeys, the diversity of general practice, and its unique work–life balance.
The evening opened with a welcome from GPSN President Irene Huang, followed by an informative RACGP presentation. Free Guzman y Gomez catering, sponsored by RACGP, created a relaxed atmosphere for networking and discussion.
With 26 attendees and positive feedback on the engaging speakers, the event successfully inspired early-year students to consider general practice – combining valuable insights, good food, and genuine conversation.
GPSN Bond – MedSoc Games
GPSN Bond joined forces with BASA, BURS, and BUOPS to host the annual MedSoc Games Night – an evening packed with energy, laughter, and friendly competition.
Students tested their teamwork, quick thinking, and creativity through a series of fun and unconventional medical-themed games. From fast-paced challenges to artistic and problem-solving tasks, the night offered something for everyone.
Attendees also enjoyed a spread of delicious food, fuelling their competitive spirit and camaraderie throughout the event.
The MedSoc Games Night has become a much-loved tradition at Bond, bringing together students across all year levels to unwind, connect, and celebrate the vibrant medical student community.
