Dineshe Mohanarajah (2026 GPSN National Chair)

Hi everyone! My name is Dineshe, and I’ll be the National Chair for GPSN next year. I’m incredibly excited to work with a team of passionate and driven medical students to continue the fantastic work that GPSN has been doing to promote and celebrate general practice across Australia.

I’ve had the privilege of being a part of the GPSN local club at UNSW for the past 3 years and as Chair where we’ve worked to organise state-wide conferences, academic events and community outreach events like community Blood Pressure Screenings. The passion for general practice is there, and I can’t wait to continue spreading it to other medical students.

Next year, my vision is for GPSN to be a space that not only inspires interest in general practice but also empowers students to become advocates and leaders within their communities. We’ll be continuing to highlight the vital role GPs/RGs play in our healthcare system, as clinicals, educators and advocates for patient-centred care. Through collaboration with our local clubs we aim to create opportunities for students to engage with real-world advocacy initiatives and connect with likeminded students to shape the journey in medicine.

We’ve got a big year ahead with ideas already brewing in the pot that we are excited to share with you all. Whether you’re attending your first GPSN event or stepping into a leadership position locally, I hope you’ll feel inspired to also get involved, share your voice and be a part of this growing community.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together in 2026, to make general practice not just a career option, but a movement we’re all proud to be a part of.

Stella Schneckenburger (2026 GPSN National Vice-Chair)

Hello, I’m Stella – an international Deakin medical student pursuing general practice… and your 2026 GPSN National Vice Chair!

Working alongside my local club for two years, followed by the national team in 2025, I can see that there is so much passion and love for primary care, and I can’t wait to continue to spread the excitement surrounding general practice around our local and national medical student communities!

General practitioners are a first point of contact for people seeking care, and are a vital pillar to our health systems as a whole. The National team looks forward to supporting local events across Australia targeted towards individual communities and what would inspire their students most in getting involved in the field of general practice. We also look forward to spearheading our own unique events and nation-wide advocacy initiatives which aim to shape the future of medical school GP training and seamless transition into the workforce for people passionate about working in general practice.  

Whether you are a leader championing your local GPSN club, or an incoming first year unsure of what each specialty has to offer and curious whether general practice is right for you, I am so excited to meet you, share visions and stories together, and welcome you with open arms to GPSN!

2026 is our year to shine as a community, and continue the passionate pursuit of making general practice a wonderful space for learners, doctors, and patient community alike.
