The Victoria/Tasmania Statewide Collaborative event finally came to light in the latter portion of August with a jam-packed day for participants and teachers alike!
The first half of the day involved students rotating around five ultrasound stations:
- Peripheral vascular access
- Basic Cardiac
- Lungs
- FAST, and
- AAA screening.
Participants then had a lunch break kindly sponsored by RACGP, followed by students rotating around three clinical sessions in the afternoon – fundoscopy, suturing, and plastering.
There was an incredible amount of diversity that students were exposed to on the day, and it was amazing for the Unimelb, Monash, Deakin, and UTAS Chairs to see an event proposed all the way back in November 2022 at the National Council come to life!
The organisers are incredibly thankful and appreciative of all the doctors (primarily from GP or ED backgrounds) who generously offered their time and efforts to help teach medical students on the day.
The event ran incredibly smoothly because of their collaborative efforts, and all students attending gained a new set of valuable knowledge and skills.
