Research. The word in itself seems to be more of a concept than anything else in first year, and as your journey through medical school progresses, we start to realise that this foreign aspect of our training actually plays a big role in what we do.
By the end of second year, the jitters surrounding getting involved in a project start to kick in as you realise that some of your colleagues are already well integrated into research teams and on their way to publication. Before you blindly commit to a project, let’s take a step back and consider why, as students, we get involved in research in the first place.
